34th Jammu District Volleyball Championship begins

JAMMU: 34th Jammu District Volleyball Championship for boys & girls being organised by Jammu District Volleyball Association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir commenced at volleyball court, MA Stadium here on Friday.
The tournament, in which ten boys and six girls teams of district Jammu are participating, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mamta Sharma, SP South Jammu.

Sidharth Daluja President Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir along with Manmeet Singh President Jammu District Volleyball Association and other dignitaries presented memento to the Chief Guest, Mamta Sharma.
Speaking to the gathering, the Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the organizers and association in promoting the sports in general and game of volleyball in particular thus involving youth in constructing activities. A veteran volleyball player of J&K and father of SP South, Subash Sharma was also present.
Other dignitaries present were Chief Executive Office VAJK, Kuldip Magotra, General Secretary, Vijay Magotra, Treasurer Ramesh Sharma, Organizing Secretary HS Gill, Rajeev Dogra Senior Volleyball Coach SAI, Manpreet Kour, Veena Kumari, Akbar Ali, Mulkh Raj Sharma and Naresh Kumar.
Earlier, H.S Gill, Secretary Jammu District Volleyball Association, welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion and also highlighted district volleyball association activities for promoting the volleyball game in Jammu district.
The opening day of the competition witnessed preliminary rounds in both boys and girls sections.
In the opening match of boys section, Stadium B outplayed Volleyball Club Nagrota by 2-0.
To encourage the teams, President VAJK, Sidharth Daluja presented a cash prize of Rs 3,000 to the winning team of opening match, Stadium B and Rs 2000 to Player of the Match, Sunil Sharma of Stadium B team.
Today’s matches were officiated by the VFI qualified referees including Amarjeet Singh, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Naresh Kumar, Amit Sharma, Anil Kumar, Bhawna Sharma and Neha.
The Results: Boys semifinals: Volleyball Club Allah beat Stadium B 2-0 (25-16, 25-19) and Border Line Club Pallanwalla beat Stadium A 2-1 (23-25, 25-21,15-11).
League Round: Stadium B beat Volleyball Club Nagrota 2-0 (25-09, 25-23); Border Line Club beat Volleyball Club HS Domana 2-1 (25-08, 23 -25, 15-09); Volleyball Club Allah beat GHSS Sunjwan 2-0 (25-10, 25-08); Stadium A beat Trikuta Club Salehar 2-0 (25-15, 25-18); Border Line Club Pallanwalla beat FC Club RS Pura 2-1 (25-08, 23-25, 15-11).
In girls section semifinals: Trikuta Volleyball Club beat Volleyball Club Nagrota by 2-0 and Trikuta Club Junior beat JK Volleyball Club by 2-0.
League match: JK Volleyball Club beat Volleyball Club Shastri Nagar by 2-0 in opening match.
Tomorrow Fixtures: Trikuta Club to meet Trikuta Club Junior in girls final and Volleyball Club Allah to face Border Line Club Pallanwalla in boys final at 2:30 PM.
