RAMBAN: Maintaining that Jammu and Kashmir has seen a new dawn of development, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla on Tuesday said that the hundred percent implementation of many central schemes in J&K is witness to the fact that Govt. of India is steadfast to provide social stability at all fronts be that housing, livelihood etc. to the people of J&K.
The Minister said this while chairing a development review meeting with the officers and PRIs of district Ramban.
The Union Minister said that the Government is committed to reach out to the last person in the queue for providing benefit under all welfare schemes for the upliftment of socially and economically weaker sections of the society.
Terming PMAY a good initiative for providing house to houseless, the Union Minister asked the Administration for saturate the scheme so that each and every homeless could get a house under the scheme.

Taking detailed review department-wise, scheme-wise and sector-wise, the Union Minister highlighted various schemes launched by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
During the meeting, the Minister directed the district administration to make proposals of schemes that come under the Ministry of Minority Affairs so that the benefits of these schemes could percolate at gross-root levels. He also directed the concerned for organizing awareness programmes to sensitize the people about the schemes so that deserving could avail benefits of welfare schemes meant for them.
While appreciating District Administration for effectively implementing all major developmental projects and Government Sponsored Schemes in the district, the Minister said that Union Government is working on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving the goal of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas Aur Sab Ka Prayas in the country.
The Minister also distributed assistance among beneficiaries under various social and financial assistance schemes of different sectors launched by the Union Government and UT Government.
John Barla made e-inaugurations and e-foundations of several projects including 3 water supply schemes of Rs. 10.5 crore including water supply scheme Kundi Karol of Rs. 1. 96 crore, water supply scheme Neera (New) of Rs 3.37 crore and water supply scheme Bohardhar of Rs. 5.18 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Minister also e-inaugurated developmental projects including, Amrit Sarovar, Doori Laggali, Dhandrath-B, Thalwa, Pernote B, Livera, Chamalwas, Sankri Mandir Khaldhar and Harvesting Pond, Bass Bhattan.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated an exhibition-cum- awareness camp. He along with other dignitaries inspected the stalls established by the various departments showing their products, which include Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, DIC, Handloom & Handicrafts, NRLM and Banking Sector.
Meanwhile, the Minister handed over land passbooks to land owners under ‘Aap Ki Zameen Aap Ki Nigrani’ besides distributing cheques under Tejaswani scheme. He also distributed free Gas Connections, Free Ration Kits under Ujjwala Yojana and PMGKY to Beneficiaries.
The Minister handed over keys of tricycles to specially-abled beneficiaries provided by the Social Welfare Department. He also handed over keys of vehicles to beneficiaries under MUMKIN scheme, sanction letters under TEJASWANI scheme, besides distributing certificates among beneficiaries under PMEGP and National Bee Board for establishing their own income generation units.
Giving brief account of overview of district profile through PPT, the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam briefed about flagship, developmental and Employment Generation Schemes introduced by the Union Government for the welfare of people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The DC informed that the district has ample potential in wild pomegranate, honey production and the district has been selected both the products for ‘ One District One Product’ for Sulai honey and Anar Dana.
Later, a delegation of DDCs, PRIs headed by Chairperson, District Development Council, Ramban, Dr. Shamshad Shan comprising off Vice-Chairperson, DDC, Ramban Rabia Beig, DDC, Members Bashir Runyal, Renuka Katoch, Jagvir Dass, Bashir Ahmed Naik, Fayaz Ahmed, Gulshan Parveen, BDC Chairperson, Shafiq, and PRIs met Union Minister and projected various demands of developmental needs of their respective areas and sought their early redressal.
The demands include establishment of Hill Development Council for Chenab Valley, conduct of Census, payment of material used in MGNREGA works, compensation to Dalwas landslide victims, compensation of land acquired for construction of road under PMGSY, ST status for Pahari Speaking People, construction of shopping mall at Ramsoo to relocate shopkeepers affected due to widening of NH-44, taking up more projects under NABARD, construction of overhead bridges at certain locations on NH-44, construction of sports stadium, and construction of hostels for ST students in the district.
A delegation led by President, Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumbria along with Members, Municipal Council, Gopal Raina and Khalid Wani appreciated the government for launching various developmental projects worth crores of rupees in the Municipal Council, Ramban, besides demanding more manpower for Municipal Council, transfer of Dak Bangalow land to MC for construction of multi-storey building, augmentation of Water Supply Schemes for Ramban town and opening of additional ration depots in the district for the convenience of people.
Responding to the demands put forth by the delegations and individuals, the Union Minister said that their genuine demands would be forwarded to the concerned Ministries for early redressal.
Among others, SSP, Ramban, Mohita Sharma, ADDC, Rajinder Sharma, ADC Harbans Sharma, PO, Jehangir Hashmi, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, Additional SP Rajni Sharma, GM, DIC, Ravinder Anand, ACR, Giasul Haq, Dy. DEO Lal Chand, ACP Swarn Singh, ACD, Ashok Singh, besides district and sectoral officers of line departments attended the meeting.
