KATHUA: A Duty Officer and Sentri of Police Station Rajbagh were suspended after a narco-smuggler fled from police lock-up on Sunday while departmental enquiry has been also ordered against erring cops.
According to information, Murad Ali alias Jakhbar, resident of Mardu was arrested by police on September29 by Rajbagh police with 90 gm heroin and Rs 1.5 lakh cash. He was booked under NDPS case and accordingly taken on remand. But, on Sunday he escaped from police lock-up as soon as he got an opportunity. A case was registered immediately after his escape and manhunt was launched but he was not traced till late night. All his hideouts are being searched by police. Taking cognizance of the matter, Duty Officer and Santri have been suspended.
