JAMMU: Celebrating 2nd National Pharmacovigilance Week from September 17 to 23, 2022 as per the directions from IPC Ghaziabad, MoHFW, Govt. of India, Walkathon on Medication safety and celebration under said week was inaugurated and flagged off by Bhupinder Kumar, Administrative Secretary Health and Medical Education.
He appreciated the steps taken by Principal/ Dean GMC Jammu for introducing Institutional E Drug Bulletin for the Medical Fraternity and also dedicating OPD Tickets and Emergency Tickets bearing Toll free number (18001803024) of PvPI for reporting of adverse drug reactions by the patients as a part of safe and best medical practices in the institution and to encourage reporting of adverse drug reactions by patients.
Today on 21st sept 2022, a National CME/Webinar was held at GMC, Jammu by ADRM Centre, Department of Pharmacology, in collaboration with Indian Society of Rational Pharmaco-therapeutics.
Principal/Dean, GMC Jammu Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma was the Chief Guest of the said CME. She along with prominent Faculty members of the institution released the Institutional E Drug Bulletin and also Released/dedicated OPD Tickets and Emergency Tickets bearing Toll free number (18001803024) of PvPI for reporting Adverse drug reactions by the patients henceforth.
She said in her inaugural address that medication errors are largely preventable and every stakeholder should try to minimize the possibility of medication error in the clinical Practice. She said teaching & training of nursing , paramedical staff and doctors of the highest standards is the answer to minimize such medication errors. Dr Seema Gupta, Organizing Chairperson, Prof & Head Pharmacology delivered the welcome address and stressed to ensure patient safety on priority. Dr Vishal R Tandon Organizing Secretary, Professor and In-charge ADRM centre delivered a talk on Medication Safety and moderated the panel discussion. The panel discussion on “how to improve the system to minimize medication error was” attended and Deliberated by Dean Academics, Dr Sandeep Kaushal DMC, Ludhiana, Dr HS Reehan Director Professor, Ladyhardinge Medical College, New Delhi, Dr Bikash Medhi, Professor of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director ASCOMS Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, HOD Radiotherapy, Dr Fayaz Wani Hod Medicine, Dr Anita Vig Professor anesthesia, and Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Professor Anesthesia. CME was well attended by Faculty, Residents and Postgraduates and paramedical staff of this institution.
Dr Sunaini Khajuria and Dr Rachana Raina conducted the proceedings of the function.
Before this, poster-making and eassy writing competition was held which was participated by MBBS Students, PGs and Interns of this Institution.
Harisha (Intern), Dr Nikhil Menia (3rd year PG-Pharmacology),Dr Amerjeet Singh(3rdyr PG Pharmacology) and Rupambir Singh (Final Prof) students bagged prizes in Essay Writing. Dr Sheeba Roohi (BDS 2nd year), Dr Nayer Rashid (1st Year PG), miss Kirandeep Kour(Intern), Ikhlas Zahoor (2nd Prof), Dr Sunaini Khajuria (3rd year PG) and Dr Kanika (Demonstrator) and Dr Vidushi (1st Year PG) bagged prizes for poster making competition.
