ANTF recovers heroin worth lakhs of rupees; arrests two drug dealers, books one under PIT NDPS

JAMMU: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir police, specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, achieved another success on Friday after it foiled a bid to smuggle commercial quantity of Heroin worth lakhs of rupees.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) ANTF Jammu Vinay Kumar said, “On specific information that one Alto Car bearing registration No. JK02CW-2492 driven by Laikat Ali, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Rangpur Sadhray, R.S Pura at present Nikki Tawi Belicharana, Jammu is selling Heroin among the youth in Belicharana area of Jammu and had concealed a large quantity of Heroin in his car.”
“On this information, a case FIR No. 12/2022 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu and ANTF team immediately swung into action and laid Naka at near 4th Tawi Bridge Belicharana, Jammu,” he said.
SSP ANTF J&K Kumar further said, “The above-mentioned car was stopped by the ANTF team and during search, 282.20 grams of Heroin from the Alto Car was recovered by the ANTF team.”
“The accused person has been arrested in the instant case and Car has been seized.” he said adding that Anti-Narcotics Task Force is investigating forward and backward links of this racket.
In addition to this, ANTF Team headed by Insp. Parvez Sajjad and Insp. Varuneshwar Singh arrested another drug supplier from Kashmir who has been identified as Noor Mohd Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Naipora Bungam, Mir Bazar Anantnag, Kashmir who was wanted in case FIR No. 09/2022 under Section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act of PS ANTF Jammu.
“Noor Mohd Bhat is the main supplier of the narcotic drugs from Kashmir Valley and had formed a notorious gang with his associates and in connivance with other accused persons, is involved in supply/transport of Narcotics Substances from Kashmir to Jammu region for making easy money and has spoiled the lives of many youth” SSP ANTF J&K said and added that more arrests are expected.
Moreover, he said, on September 7, 2022 one notorious narco-dealer named Vishal Sharma alias Vishu, son of Late Ram Parkash Sharma, resident of House No. 136, Lane No. 1, Rajpura, Shakti Nagar, Jammu was detained under PIT NDPS Act and lodged in central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.
“A dossier was submitted by P/S ANTF Jammu before the Divisional Commissioner Jammu who issued detention orders of this hard-core criminal under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act,” SSP Vinay said.
“The Anti-Narcotic Task Force appeals to the general public to share information regarding such drug dealers so that appropriate legal actions are taken against them and this menace is uprooted from our society, ” he added.
