Rana lauds youth for evincing interest in sports

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana on Sunday lauded youth for evincing keen interest in sports of international repute alongside traditional games, saying this will keep them in good stead in various national and international events. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Fourth J&K UT Kudo Championship, played at Bhagwati Nagar Sports Complex, Rana hoped that budding sportspersons will make their mark in this sport, not only locally but also at the national level. Rana, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said Jammu and Kashmir has no dearth of talent but there is need to identify and sharpen their sporting skills by experienced coaches. Grooming and shaping the talent of sports persons is an investment to brighten the future of enterprising youth and channelize their energies in positive pursuits. The just concluded championship will serve as a source of inspiration for the young athletes to try their destiny with Kudo that has a bright future in the sports arena. He complimented the organizers and urged them to expand the scope of the game to other areas of the Union Territory on a larger scale. Describing sports as imperative for physical and mental growth, Rana exhorted the youth to formulate their schedule in such a manner that sporting activities do not hamper the academics as both are equally important for career management. He observed that sports have opened up vistas of opportunities in career progression, saying those excelling in their chosen field will find sky the limit. He advised youth to aim high and pursue their objective with sincerity of purpose. In all, 250 sports persons participated in the event.
While Dr. Parneesh Mahajan and Kulbir Handa SP City were the Guests of Honour, Pooja Nijhon CPO was the Special Guest at the event.
Besides, Chairman Kudo Association Jammu and Kashmir Puneet Arora, President Gulshan Rattan and General Secretary Rajinder Gupta, Joint Secretary Jitender Saragal and Technical Director Rakesh Chander Sharma were present at the ceremony and gave an overview of the championship.
