Tributes paid to Major Som Nath Sharma

JAMMU: Bawa Kailakh Dev Parbandhak committee on Sunday celebrated birth anniversary of first Param Vir Chakra awardee martyr Major Som Nath Sharma, who had made supreme sacrifice while defending Kashmir from invading Pakistani tribal and Army in 1947. In this connection a function was organized at Raipur Domana where rich tributes were paid to the martyr.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad State general secretary Shakti Dutt Sharma, who was chief guest on the occasion, threw light on the life of Major Som Nath Sharma and supreme sacrifice made by him in war with Pakistani. Bawa kailakh Parbandhak committee president Ram pal Seth appealed to the Governor N N vohra to pay homage to the great personality by rechristening Jammu airport by the name of Major Som Nath sharma.
Prominent citizens along with local leaders including Dr C M Raina, Sunil Dutt, Pt Dev Dutt Shastri, Rajat Soodan, Sahil Seth and other people attended the function.
