IIT JAMMU wins Smart India Hackathon 2022

IIT JAMMU’s Team ‘Dynamatrix’ wins the first prize in SIH 2022 for their incredible approach in working for Knee support mechanism. Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. The team Dynamatrix beat out other contestants with their incredible designs and successful integration of data collected to the application using sensors. They designed a knee support mechanism, which can take body weight and transfer to shoes so that pain at the knee due to body weight is minimized.

IIT JAMMU took part in Smart India Hackathon 2022, organized under Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) with the Team name Tinker Child. It won SIH whose grand finale was held from 25th Aug to 26th Aug in problem statement ID NK829. As a result of which they were awarded prize money of Rs. 1 Lakh.
The given problem statement was “ Fishing boat Activity Clustering and Timeline Studying (FACTS)”, relating to robust marine fishery reporting techniques and what can be done to make policymakers and security agencies know where boats prefer to fish at what time of the year. Team Tinker Child developed an interactive platform to visualise, analyse and predict data in regards to the fishing vessels in the Indian waters.
Their solution consisted of a web application containing ML models to predict the future route of fishing vessels, categorise them based on their movement patterns and derive fishing trends.
