2,38,170 voters to exercise their franchise in Reasi

REASI : The elections to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir comprising of 87 segments would be held in five phases commencing from 28th October, 2014 and concluding on 29th December, 2014, In Reasi district polling for all the three segments including Gulabgarh, Reasi and Gool Arnas will go on 2nd December (second phase) and 2,38,170 voters would exercise their franchise including 1,26,039 male and 1,12,131 female voters at 403 polling stations.
The information was given by the District Electoral Officer, Shabir Amhad Bhatt while interacting with the members of media here this afternoon. District Election Officer said that the elections would be held in free and fair manner and adequate deployment of security forces, election observers and other related things have been put in place.
The District Election Officer further said that the notifications for the second phase is 7th November, 2014, the last date for filing nominations is 14th November, he maintained. He further said that scrutiny of papers would be held on 15th November, the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers would be 17th November.
District Election Officer further added that in order to mobilise masses on the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) a calendar has been chalked out. All departments are assisting for creating awareness among electors about electoral participation and coverage of left out voters, he said adding that District Administration Reasi is all set for this mammoth exercise and about 403 polling stations and three Assembly constituencies will witness this exercise at Panchayat level. Administration has linked 403 polling stations with 147 Panchayats where functions will be held under SVEEP in day long proceedings. NGOs, social, educational, political and even religious associations / organisations have been involved for this purpose, he added.
