Enforce model code of conduct: DEO
KULGAM: District Election Officer (DEO), Kulgam, Nisar Hussain Wani has exhorted upon officers to enforce the Model Code of Conduct strictly, adding that all poll related assignments must be completed in time.
Chairing a meeting of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers here on Sunday afternoon, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised on taking up verification of all polling stations so that all requisite basic minimum facilities are put in place well before the day of poll.
It was enjoined upon the officers not to leave the station and ensure punctuality and regularity of their subordinates to put their offices in election gear. He said no official should be transferred or promoted till the election process is over.
Highlighting the need to be impartial and neutral in poll related duties, he said the poll process must be free, fair and transparent. “No officer or employee should favour or disfavor any political party or participate in political campaigning”, he cautioned.
The Returning Officers were asked to constitute flying squads, video surveillance and video viewing teams to keep eye on the expenditure of candidates and violations thereof.
ANANTNAG: After announcement of poll schedule by Chief Election Commissioner for J and K State, the preparations for the coming Assembly elections in District Anantnag were today reviewed in a high level meeting, chaired by District Election Officer, Anantnag Tasaduq Jeelani.
In the meeting the feedback from all the concerned officers was received and the preparations were discussed.
District Election Officer directed all the concerned officers to personally visit each and every polling station and ensure that every polling location is ready for the required process.
Preparations of voter lists, issuance of EPICs additions and deletions besides formation of Video surveillance teams and squads and formation of MCMC were also discussed in the meeting.
Jeelani directed all the Officers to strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct so that the coming elections are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner. He also urged upon all Officers to work in close coordination so that the election in the District would be conducted successfully.
BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Lone, who is also the District Election Officer, has called upon the concerned officers to make all arrangements in time for conducting free, fair and transparent Assembly Elections in the District.
Reviewing the preparations of the upcoming assembly elections at an officers meeting held here today, the DEO stressed for strict implementation of Model Code of Conduct.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on various aspects of the election process. Preparations regarding EVMs, Polling Stations, Formation of Transport Plan and establishment of offices also came under discussion in the meeting.
The DEO directed the officers to make regular check-ups of the polling stations and see the preparedness thereof. He instructed all the concerned officers to show dedication and determination for conducting a smooth, fair and transparent election in the District and instructed for quick disposal of election works.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, and Sub-Divisional Magistrates besides Returning officers, Assistant Returning officers attended the meeting.
