JAMMU: A delegation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI), Jammu, led by its President Arun Gupta met Commissioner State Taxes, Dr. Rashmi Singh, in his office chamber and held threadbare discussions on the issues related to trading fraternity.
The delegation comprised of Anil Gupta, Sr. Vice President, Rajeev Gupta, Jr. Vice President, Gaurav Gupta, Secretary General, Rajesh Gupta, Secretary and Rajesh Gupta, Treasurer CCI.
While interacting with the Commissioner State Taxes, Arun Gupta demanded that the limit of the e-way bills should be enhanced from Rs. 50000 to Rs. 1 lakh.
While speaking on the occasion, Arun Gupta said that when GST was introduced the then Finance Minister Arun Jaietly on the floor of the house said that GST is a good and simple tax, but now-a-days it has been complicated by only few officers by imposing penalties for minor technical mistakes. We request that this should not happen, he added.
Arun Gupta further said that the goods which are shifted from godowns /cold storage to shops should be treated as stock transfer. If there is mention in the bill ” for shifting of stock” from one place to another place, there is no need to generate a fresh e-way bill as it is a technical point and needs to be understood.
Arun Gupta also apprised the Commissioner State Taxes that as per Industrial Policy the Industrial units in UT of J&K are getting GST reimbursement, but sometimes the refund process is delayed due to one reason or the other. We request that GST reimbursement should be in a time bound manner.
Arun Gupta also said that some members could not claim the reimbursement of GST from 2017 onwards due to some un-avoidable circumstances. Chamber requests that they should be given one last chance to apply for reimbursement claims.
In view of ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Arun Gupta also requested the Commissioner State Taxes to hold awareness programme cum workshop on GST at Chamber House for the welfare of trader fraternity.
The Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the visiting delegation and assured that necessary steps would be taken by the Department for the welfare of trading fraternity and also agreed upon to hold awareness programme cum workshop on GST at Chamber House on her next visit to Jammu.
