Veteran journalist Ashok Pahalwan is no more

JAMMU: Senior journalist and former Correspondent of Reuter Ashok Pahalwan died here on Saturday.
Ashok Pahalwan, 65 was currently the editor of Scoop News.
Belonging to a Kashmiri Pandit family from Manasbal area of Ganderbal district in the Valley, Ashok spent most of his life in Sathu Barbarshah area of old Srinagar city.
He migrated to Jammu in early 1990s and for the last 23 years, he lived in in the Tourist Reception Centre lodgings in Jammu city. He is survived by his brother.
“Since there was no response from his mobile and otherwise from the room, the police was called and the door was broken open. Ashokji found lying on the floor motionless. He was taken to the hospital declared brought dead. His brother is coming from Delhi tomorrow morning. His cremation timing has not yet decided”, Scoop News reported, adding that the veteran journalist was staying alone in one of the room in Tourist Reception Centre, Jammu for about three decades after migration.
He was not well for the last two years and doctors were treating him, the news agency added. He was known for his hospitality and large-heartedness.
Friends recalled his annual get-togethers had become famous in Kashmir as he would throw grand parties each year to entertain people those included the chief ministers to the youngest news reporters of his time.
Death of Ashok Pahalwan has been widely mourned by journalistic fraternity and prominent citizens from other walks of life.
