SG & CEO WWF India meets LG Mathur, discusses implementation of Mission Khoryug in Ladakh

LEH: Secretary-General (SG) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) India, Ravinder Pal Singh, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, in New Delhi.
SG & CEO WWF India Ravinder briefed about various initiatives taken by them in Ladakh, including the pilot project on building conservation leadership among the children of Ladakh. He also briefed that Mission Khoryug aims to build knowledge of students about the biodiversity of Ladakh and actively engage with nature, promote student-led action for enhancing green activities in schools, promote student-led community service for nature, equip schools with a biodiversity map of Ladakh and other educational resources, etc. He apprised that Mission Khoryug also focuses on developing an Ek Prithvi Model school each in Leh and Kargil, providing volunteering opportunities, etc. SG & CEO WWG India Ravinder requested for the launch of Mission Khoryug in all government schools in Ladakh from next year, the promotion of the Mission and the appointment of a nodal officer for coordinating the implementation of the Mission in government schools, etc. He also requested for an LG Award for best performing schools for the successful implementation of Mission Khoryug.
LG Mathur appreciated WWF India for their initiative of introducing Mission Khoryug in government schools of Ladakh.
