AP cadre ex-IAS officer Satish Chandra appointed as Chairman J&K PSC

JAMMU: The Government on Saturday appointed Satish Chandra (retired IAS officer) of Andhra Pradesh cadre as chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (J&K PSC).
“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Re-organization Act, 2019, and S.O. 3937 (E) dated 31Sst October, 2019, read with Order issued in terms of sub-clause (i) of clause (c) of the Proclamation issued by the President dated 31t October, 2019, the Lieutenant Governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint Satish Chandra, IAS (Rtd.), as Chairman, Public Service Commission for the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” reads S.O. 272 notification issued by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, General Administration Department
According to the notification, his appointment shall take effect from the date he assumes the office.
As per notification, Chandra shall hold the position of the chairman, Public Service Commission, till he attains the age of sixty two years. This means he would hold the position till November 19, 2023.
Chandra, an IAS officer of 1986 batch, attained superannuation in November 2021. Chandra, who has held several key positions in AP, also served as Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
