Week-long activities to commemorate World Environment Day conclude in GDC Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Environment Committee of Government Degree College Udhampur concluded week long activities with plantation drive and drawing competition to commemorate “World Environment Day” on Saturday. Under the patron-ship of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta Principal of the college, different activities were carried out in the campus on the theme “Only One Earth” in which large number of students participated.
Speaking on the occasion Principal of the college stressed upon the role of students in conservation of environment on scientific lines keeping in view the current environmental issues and concerns. Activities ranging from open green class room to survey of greenery cover in the campus, concept of nursery in the college campus, plant protection management system, efforts toward Zero waste management, concept of seed bank, best out of the waste and awareness rally by the students to popularize the concept of sustainability and living in tune with nature were carried out. All the activities were conducted and coordinated by environment committee members as individual activity in-charge.
Principal of the college appreciated the efforts made by the convenor of the environment committee, Prof. Imtiaz Shahid and members of the committee, Prof.Jawaid Sarver, Prof. Sonia Raj, Dr.Swarn Singh and Dr. Anitafor their pro-activity approach for creating awareness among the students community regarding the environmental issues and their management.
