JAMMU: The Directorate of Agriculture has identified Agriculture Mechanisation as the key to bring about another agriculture revolution for enhancing production and productivity of food and non-food crops. This was disclosed by Director of Agriculture, Jammu, while addressing the officers and workers at Government Agriculture Workshop, Jammu during the Vishwakarma Day Celebrations on Friday.
The director said that we are getting a very good response and results of different Agriculture Machinery from the farmer’s field. The Paddy Transplanters, Seed-cum –Fertilizer Drills, Reaper-cum-Binders, Power, Weeders, and Diesel Hill Ploughs are being popularized under the component Training, Testing and Demonstration (TTD) of different Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). Demonstrations for use of Seed Treatment Drums have been planned in current Rabi season covering all the Panchayats. He further said that our Agriculture Workshop is playing an important role by manufacturing and supplying different tools and implements of use in agriculture.
Bhagwan Vishwakarma Puja was held at Seed Processing Unit, Seed Multiplication Farm Chinore, Seed Multiplication Farm Chakrohi and Government Agriculture Workshop, Talab Tillo, Jammu by the workers and officials in these units. On this occasion worship of tools and machines with special prayers for safety of the operators and workers was done followed by distribution of Prasad. After the function the director along with team of officers had of round of Seed Processing Unit where cleaning and grading of different seeds is being done by machines.
