DB grants month’s time to PCB for filing report with costs of Rs 5,000
PIL regarding threat to eco-balance due to unauthorised stone-crushers

JAMMU: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding threat to ecological and environmental balance due to construction of certain unauthorized stone crushers and macadam plants, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court at Srinagar Wing comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi asked PCB to file report with regard to stone-crushers or the macadam plants which may be causing environmental hazards, subject to payment of costs of Rs 5,000.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed that the Regional Director, J&K Pollution Control Board, was required to submit a report in terms of order dated 28.12.2021, but the same has not been submitted till date. On request of AAG, Division Bench granted a month’s further time to PCB for filing report subject to payment of costs of Rs 5,000.
