Mughal Road tunnel DPR send to Centre: Wani
SRINAGAR: Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani said that 8 km tunnel would be constructed on the Mughal road to make it an all weather route and reduce the distance by 12 km, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been submitted to the Planning Commission/Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for accord of approval and funding.
Replying to a question by Dr. Shahnaz Ganai in the Legislative Council, the minister further said that the proposal for feasibility studies, preparation of Preliminary Project Report (PPR) and DPR for construction of tunnel on Mughal road at an estimated cost of Re. 2.76 crore and Rs. 25 crore respectively has been submitted.
However, in the meanwhile department has initiated the work of feasibility study and preparation of PPR for construction of tunnel through the consultant M/S SMEC Pvt. Ltd. The agency has completed nearly 50 per cent of the job assigned.
He further said that there are some road projects where the progress was slow and not completed by the concerned contractors within the stipulated time frame. As such their contracts are terminated and balance work taken up after inviting fresh tenders at the risk and cost of original contractors.
