32-yr-old crushed to death, one injured

JAMMU: An employee of LG Company, riding pillion of a motorbike, was crushed to death on Tuesday when it was hit by a truck near Kaluchak on National Highway while overtaking.

The deceased, identified as Ashish Sharma, son of Ajay Sharma, resident of Vishal Nagar, Talab Tillo, died on the spot while his colleague Prabhjeet Singh, son of Harbans Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar, received minor injuries.
32-year-old Ashish and Prabhjeet were on way to Kathua on motorbike (JK02BB-9088); while overtaking a truck (JK02AQ-1246), Prabhjeet lost control and they both fell down. Ashish died on the spot as he was crushed under the rear wheel of the same truck.
The traffic came to halt on the busy road as Ashish’s body was lying on the highway.
The shocked and bereaved family members told STATE TIMES that Ashish along with his colleague was on way to Kathua in connection with some official work.
Ashish is survived by his young wife, a two year old son and five month old daughter. As the news of accident spread, a pall of gloom descended in the Talab Tillo locality.
Police has registered the case for investigations at Gangyal Police Station. The truck driver identified as Khem Raj, son of Harbans Lal, resident of Trikuta Nagar has been arrested.
Later in the evening, body of Ashish Sharma was handed over to his family after postmortem.
