‘Insanitation, dearth of facilities ruining Udhampur’
UDHAMPUR: Senior Congress leader and Ex-councilor Ashwani Khajuria on Tuesday said that sanitary condition of Udhampur Town is deplorable and requires special attention.
Khajuria also highlighted issues regarding filth in the town, erratic supply of potable water, poor medicare facilities, dearth of teaching staff in most of government run schools besides indifferent attitude of municipality staff towards their responsibilities and duties.
The senior leader said that it is unfortunate that peace of mind of people living in this town which has scintillating natural beauty and serene environment has been disturbed due to negligent attitude of helmsmen sitting in the power corridors as gigantic dumps of garbage, erratic power and water supply, dilapidated educational edifice, worsening medical services besides numerous pot-holes on roads making a cumulative effect has badly affected the sheen of this town.
He added that due to apathetic approach of government functionaries towards public concern aggrieved people are being forced to hold protests and Dharnas for issues affecting their lives and surroundings. Khajuria appealed to the people that they should exercise their franchise in the ensuing elections to bring dedicated and far-sighted representatives to the corridors of power to bail out the miserable population of Udhampur from the clutches of those indifferent leaders who have indiscriminately exploited the people to satiate their own vested interests.
