91 bovines rescued; 10 smugglers nabbed

NAGROTA/POONCH/UDHAMPUR: Police on Tuesday foiled various bovine smuggling bids by rescuing 91 bovines and arrested 10 smugglers.
As per details, Nagrota Police rescued 33 bovines during Naka checking at Ban Toll Plaza Naka and seized three vehicles (JKO2AA 5425, JK02AG 5095 and HP38G 6021). Three FIRs vide No 228, 229,220/2022 under sections 188 of IPC & 11 of PCA Act were registered at Police Station Nagrota and 5 smugglers were arrested, who were identified as Mohinder Pal Singh, son of Madan Singh, resident of Miran Sabih and his associate Bashir Ahmed, son of Mohd Qasam, resident of Nikki Tawi; Arif, son of Yaqoob, resident of Saharanpur UP and Darshan Lal, son of Chaman Lal, resident of Tanda Hoshiarpur (Punjab) and his associate Umer Khan, son of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Kokernag, presently staying at Narwal. The overall arrests and recoveries were made by SHO Nagrota Inspr Vishav Pratap Singh assisted by ASI Janak Raj under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Pardeep Kumar. Poonch Police also rescued 14 animals from clutches of bovine smugglers while foiling bovine smuggling bids in Surankote area. On directions of SSP Poonch Rohit Baskotra under close supervision of ASP Poonch Musheem Ahmed, police teams headed by DySP Surankote Tanveer Jelani, SHO Surankote Insp Niaz Ahmed, Incharge Police Post Behramgalla SI Sushant Singh, SI Rohit Manmar established Naka at Behramgalla and Panar areas. During checking, two bovine smugglers were arrested and 2 Tata mobile (JK12A 6761 & JK12 4679) vehicles were seized. FIRs No 125 & 129 /2022 under sections 188 of IPC, 11 of PCA Act were registered at Police Station Surankote.
Udhampur Police under overall supervision of SSP Dr Vinod Kumar also arrested 3 smugglers and rescued 44 bovines. Police team led by SHO Udhampur Insp Chaman Gorkha under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Udhampur Sahil Mahajan seized two vehicles and rescued 20 bovines. Three bovine smugglers namely Irshad Ahmed, son of Farid Ahmed, resident of Zero Morh, Reasi; Tariq-Ul-Islam, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Kulgam and Mohd Rafiq, son of Ghulam Mohd Bhatt, resident of Kulgam were arrested on the spot and FIR Nos. 229 & 231/2022 under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Udhampur.
In another incident, a party from Police Station Chenani led by Insp Om Parkash under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi intercepted a truck (PB 10FF5862) and rescued 24 bovines at Motorshed, Chenani. In this regard, FIR under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Chenani and vehicle was seized.
