908 works completed under MGNREGA, Rs 6 cr spent under IAY in Samba

SAMBA: The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Law and Justice Abdul Haq Khan convened a meeting of Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj on Thursday to review its functioning.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Nanda, MLA Samba, Devinder Kumar Manyal, DDC Samba, Sheetal Nanda, Director Rural Development M.L Raina were present on the occasion.
The minister stressed on taking up tangible works like construction of Pacca-path, foot bridges, plantation, water harvesting tanks, irrigation canals , link roads , culverts and bridges and added that focus should be laid on taking up such works in convergence with other departments so that a pool of resources is created that could be utilised for creating durable assets.
Reviewing in detail various works taken up in the Panchayats of Samba District, the minister impressed upon the officers to maintain quality standards while executing the works. He said he will personally carry out surprise visits to ensure whether his directions were implemented on ground.
While reviewing the progress of MGNREGA in Samba, the minister was informed that an amount of Rs 14 crore has been expended under the scheme and 908 works have been completed. Similarly, he was told that an amount of Rs 6.16 crore has been spent under IAY.
Among others, ACD Samba, Project Officer IWMP, Executive Engineer RDD Samba, Chief Horticulture Officer, BDOs of District Samba and other officials are present in the meeting.
Meanwhile Haq Khan also inspected the ongoing works of District Court Complex at Nandani Hills Samba.
