AKHNOOR: Excise Department on Sunday destroyed 90 kgs of Lahan and booked two persons under J&K Excise Act while conducting raids at Excise Range Akhnoor.
Under the direction of Excise Commissioner, Mohammad Javed Khan and the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the excise team led by ETO, Excise Range North, Tinna Mahajan and Inspector Excise Sub Range Akhnoor, Harish Sharma raided the Balla, Sathal Badgal and Nardi areas of Akhnoor Tehsil to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course of raids, more than 90 Kgs Lahan and six bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the State land. Besides, two persons namely Parmeet Kour, resident of Nardi and Charan Dass, resident of Badgal Tehsil, Akhnoor were booked under Sec 48(a) of J and K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor. Later, the excise team destroyed the recovered Lahan.
