UDHAMPUR: Police on Tuesday seized 38 pouches of illicit liquor from Bus Stand Udhampur under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur.
According to a report, based on reliable sources, a party of Police Station Udhampur/District Special Branch Udhampur led by Inspector Mahesh Sharma, SHO Police Station Udhampur carried out checking of one unknown person, later on identified as Makhan Singh son of Krishan Singh resident of Ladha Tehsil Chenani district Udhampur and recovered 38 pouches of J and K Excise (Desi Whisky) from his possession.
He was transporting the same in a polythene bag for illegal sale in his native village i.e. Ladha. The said accused person was arrested on the spot and pouches of J and K Excise were seized.
A case under FIR No. 339/2014 section 48A Ex. Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
Meanwhile, during routine patrolling at Thathri, 48 pouches of Desi wine (frooties) were recovered from the possession of one Shiv Rattan son of Kawi Rattan resident of Chatrigarh Tehsil Blalgarh District Raipur Chhattisgarh. The was accused arrested and case under FIR No. 83/2014 section 48-A Excise Act was registered at Police Station Thathri and investigation of the case is going on.
