800 kg Lahan, nine liquor bottles recovered, two held

JAMMU: Excise Department on Tuesday arrested two persons and recovered 800 kg of Lahan, one working still and 9 bottles of illicit liquor during a series of raids conducted in various areas of R S Pura and Bishnah Tehsils, and Tarafsanji area of Kathua District.
Under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Mohammed Shahid Saleem, the excise team led by Ritesh Gupta, Inspector Excise under the command of Excise and Taxation Officers, City Excise Range South, Nayeem-ur-Rehman Mughal and Suresh Sharma Eradication Wing conducted raids at Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Tarachak, Joian, Sheikhupura, Shibuchak, Rehal, Kreil, Manhasa and Kothey Bulandae areas of R.S Pura and Bishnah Tehsils and in the process about 600 kg of Lahan, one working still and nine bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the State Land which were destroyed on the spot.
During the raids, two women namely Bina Devi, wife of Rashapal, resident of Shiekhpura and Sarishta Devi, wife of Bodh Raj, resident of Phinder were arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act.
Meanwhile, Excise Team Kathua led by Arun Kumar Inspector Excise under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta conducted raids at Tarafsanji area of Kathua District and recovered 200 kg Lahan and 24 pouches of illicit liquor from the State land. The recovered Lahan was destroyed by the excise team on the spot.
