8 bovines rescued, smugglers flee

SAMBA: Police on Friday foiled two bovine smuggling bids and rescued eight bovines, however smugglers managed to escape from the spot.
According to a report, a party of Police Post Supwal led by SI Karnail Singh in-charge Police Post under the supervisor of SHO Samba Chanchal Singh laid a Naka on Jammu Pathankot National Highway near Supwal in district Samba.
During the Naka checking, twoMahindra vehicles (JK02BK- 5608 and another without number) coming from Kathua side were signaled to stop. On seeing the police, driver of both the vehicles turned their vehicle in Basantar River but the alert police intercepted them at Basantar River. During checking, police found eight bovines laden in both the vehicles which were rescued. Police has registered a case and launched manhunt to nab the drivers.
