JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of the 58 km long Jammu Ring Road Project and inspected the progress of work on various work sites. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa; Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta; Project Director NHAI, Yashpal Singh besides concerned Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, Engineering Wing of National Highway Authority of India and other officers.
During the tour, the Div Com visited spots like Raya Morh, Sarore, Bishnah, Kotli Miran Sahib, Lalayal, Tawi River Bridge site and a few others and inquired about the progress of work. It is pertinent to mention here that the 58 KM, 4-lane Ring Road starts from Raya Morh of Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba district and connects with Jagti on the Jammu Udhampur National Highway. The Phase 1 of the project; from Akhnoor Road to Kot Bhalwal, has already been opened for traffic.
During the tour, the Div Com interacted with locals at Kotli Bishnah areas and listened to their issues related to pending land compensation. He was informed that the land acquisition and disbursement of compensation amount has been almost completed. The Div com instructed the concerned SDM, Tehsildar to resolve the bottlenecks if any and expedite the pending disbursement. It was informed that work on the stretch of 0 to 10 km has been completed which connects Rayamorh to Bishnah, Kunjwani Road via Sarore and local traffic movement is allowed on the road while work on various other stretches are also nearing completion. While inspecting the progress it was informed that the work on 19 km long Phase 3 is in progress and the road from Sardare Chak to Akhnoor Road via Sohanjana, Brahmili, Waddi Tawi, Ghomanashah, Marh would be ready by October 2022. The NHAI officers apprised the Div Com about the progress of work on 12 KM long Phase 4; Chak Abtara to Nikki Tawi via Muralia, Miran Sahib would be substantially completed with 2 lane bridge over Nikki Tawi to be completed by September 2022 while the 4 lane road would be ready by December 2022. The Div Com also reviewed progress of structures and was informed by the NHAI that out of total 8 major bridges, work on 3 has been completed, besides out of 7 flyovers/ interchanges work on 4 has been completed. It was informed that out of a total 31 minor bridges, work on 27 is completed. The Div Com directed NHAI officials to expedite the pace of work on Major, Minor bridges, interchanges for their time-bound completion. The Div Com also inspected the progress of work on the bridge over Tawi river and directed the concerned officers to complete protection work at the earliest. Responding to the issues related to construction material the Div Com instructed the Mining officers to expedite the permission cases pending for minor mineral blocks to provide adequate construction material to the executing agencies for hassle free execution of work. He also asked them to identify additional minor mineral blocks. The Divisional Commissioner directed the NHAI to expedite the pace of all the ongoing works and complete the road from Raya Morh to Akhnoor Road at the earliest. He also directed the concerned officers to ensure proper drainage system, plantation, protection works etc to complete simultaneously.
