72 Feet High and Majestic National Tricolor unfurled at Mamun Military Station

Pathankot: As part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, 72 feet high and majestic National Tricolor has been unfurled in a ceremonial event at Mamun Military Station on 14 Dec 2022.
Pathankot is an important hub of national strategic importance close to the border and Mamun is one of the largest cantonments of the country. The locals have very close association with the cantonment. This immensely nature friendly ‘Clean & Green’ cantonment has recently actualised complete segregation of waste and functionalised an elaborate Solid Waste Management facility, setting standards aligned with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative of Gol. Automated labour saving and technology intensive solutions for the cantonment’s upkeep are also progressing and it is heartening to see automated cleaning of cantonment roads. In this backdrop, the Unfurling of this majestic, National flag in the border of Punjab adjoining Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal has instilled great pride amongst the locals and the national fervor was palpable during the event.
The ceremony was presided by GOC Gurj Division and Maj Gen Ashim Kohli (Retd) who represented Flag Foundation of India (FFI). The General officer thanked Flag Foundation of India for supporting this initiative and exhorted all to remain committed to the national cause. A large number of veterans and school children from proximal areas witnessed this momentous event and applauded the unfurling ceremony. An elaborate equipment display was also organized wherein children were thrilled to undertake cross country fun ride on tanks, gun and other military equipment.
Several developmental and forward looking projects have been undertaken in the Mamun Military Station in the recent past to include significant upgradation of infrastructure and amenities. In addition, under Women Empowerment initiatives, an upscaled Gurj Army Skill Training Centre has been functionalized which is not only sponsoring numerous skilling initiatives but also promoting entrepreneurship by establishing connect with experts and providing opportunities to showcase and market handmade products at Mamun Weekly Bazaar set up every weekend in an extremely festive and unique theme, frequented by large number of visitors.
