7-day Oorja CAPF U-19 football talent hunt tourney from June 12

JAMMU: Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) 66 Bn is going to organise Oorja CAPF U-19 football talent hunt tournament between 12th to 18th June, 2017. This was informed by Manvendra Singh Negi, DIG Jammu Sector during a meeting held here on Thursday. He said that the aforesaid tourney is a part of initiative taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the State of Jammu and Kashmir as a run up to the FIFA U-17 World Cup slated for October this year.
The meeting was attended by Ajay Kumar, Commandant, V.S Jamwal, Second-In-Command, N.S Negi, Joint Area Organiser, Rajeev Sharma, Deputy Commandant and Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Commandant. “The objective of tournament is to give equal opportunity to all the children across nation to play football. A legacy programme of FIFA U-17 World Cup “Mission XI Million” has been initiated as a school contact initiative that will run up to the U-17 World Cup in October to emerge as India’s biggest sporting activity,” the DIG maintained.
“Oorja” by CAPF U/19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament for boys and girls comprising three phases has been kicked off on 1st May at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in a ceremony by unveiling the mascot and logo of the tournament followed by an exhibition match by Manvendra, Deputy Inspector General, Sashstra Seema Bal, Sector Jammu, in presence of all other members of Oorja CAPF 2017.
He said that for smooth conduct of the second phase in Jammu, various organising committees have been formed. Over 264 young footballers will play more than 20 matches this month.
The prizes for second phase are Rs 1,00,000 for winner team, Rs 60,000 for Runner-up and Rs 40,000 for team securing third slot. A running Trophy will be rewarded to the winner in the second phase in addition, there will be trophies/prizes for best player of the tournament, best goalkeeper and best scorer.
