SRINAGAR: MLA Udhampur Pawan Gupta decried the attitude of State Government on the floor of the J&K Assembly while quoting non-compliance of the orders of courts, depriving a helpless poor man from the fruits of justice imparted by various courts. He pointed out that around 6,400 contempt cases are pending in both wings of High Court which itself exposes the contemptuous altitude of the government and poor performance of advocates engaged by the State despite spending huge amount on litigation.
While taking part in debate on the budget grants of RDD and Law Department, Gupta demanded deployment of adequate number of engineers in RDD in the interest of proper supervision, fast track progress and quality of all types of works being executed in the department besides providing adequate funds for the Panchayats adjoining the Municipal area of Udhampur as no labour for carrying out MGNREGA works is available. He further demanded rationalization of the areas of all blocks claiming that whole system has been scuttled down because of irrationality in block jurisdiction. He also demanded more funds for meeting demands under Prime Minister Awas Yojna out of 14th Finance Commission grant and allow Awas Yojana to be carried on Social Economic Survey of 2014. He also demanded for appropriate steps for making all toilets provided by the RDD functional with proper water supply. Pawan Gupta while raising the contemptuous attitude of the state Government made a reference of a case of 84 years old Engineer namely Santokh Singh Retired S.E who has not been given constructive justice despite directions of the Apex Court while bringing him at par with the Session Judges in pay scales. He further demanded independent court of district consumer forum at Udhampur, early completion of court complex and advocates’ chambers.
Meanwhile, putting rejoinder to the special mention on Monday’s firing incident on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Pawan sought foolproof security cover for the devotees visiting Shri Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir. Pawan said that two militant attacks have taken place in Udhampur District within a short span of one year thereby creating terror for the people. He said that Amarnath Yatra is about to commence within a fortnight and providing adequate security to Yatris is imperative to reinforce confidence among people of the country. Pawan had made special mention on the tragic incident taken place yesterday and in response to which a statement from the government with the details of the incident and action taken by the state machinery came from the floor of the house.
