6 months jail, Rs 500 fine for rash driving

JAMMU: Electricity Magistrate Jammu R.H Mirza awarded six months imprisonment and fine of Rs 500 to Ranjit Singh a driver of Tipper who was booked by the police in 2007 under Sections 279, 337 and 338 RPC.
The Electricity Magistrate after hearing senior Prosecuting Officer K.K Kotwal observed that the prosecution has proved its case without examination of investigating officer and awarded six months imprisonment and fine of Rs 500, and sent the accused to District Jail Ambphalla Jammu to serve the imprisonment.
According to police, on 10th October, 2007 at about 4:00 PM a rashly driven tipper hit Rehriwalas. Two persons got grievous injuries in the accident. Police registered a case against the driver of the Tipper and after completion of investigation presented Challan against the accused. JNF
