6 drug peddlers arrested, psychotropic substances recovered

SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs, police on Sunday arrested 6 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Budgam & Kulgam and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
In Baramulla, a police party led by SHO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Chinar Crossing Pattan intercepted two suspects and recovered 210 SpasmoProxyvon Plus capsules and 7 syrups of Codeine Phosphate from their possession. The accused, identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and Ashiq Ahmad Khanday son of Mohd Ramzan, both residents of Bazar Mohalla Pattan were arrested on the spot.
Similarly, officers from Police Station Boniyar arrested a wanted drug peddler identified as Abdul Qayoom Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Trikanjan Boniyar during Naka checking and recovered 45 gm Brown Sugar like substance from his possession. In Budgam, officers at a checkpoint established at Hyderpora Bye-pass Flyover intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number JK01T-5282 with two persons onboard. During checking, 24 bottles of psychotropic substance were recovered from their possession. The accused, identified as Saleem Yousuf son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar resident of Syed Hyder Colony Hyderpora Srinagar and Fazil Iqbal son of Mohammad Iqbal Wani resident of Hyderpora, were arrested. In Kulgam, a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Adpora crossing intercepted a suspect and recovered 11 Codeine Phosphate bottles from his possession. The accused was identified as Sameer Ahmad Malik alias Gama son of Mohd Sikander Malik resident of Bongam, Kulgam. All accused persons were arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remained in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
