JAMMU: Police on Tuesday arrested a truck driver and his associate from Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the district and recovered 576 kg poppy from their possession.
Acting on a specific input, police intercepted a truck on the national highway at Juggar Kotli belt and during search of the vehicle recovered 576 kg poppy from the possession of truck driver Gurnam Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab and his associate Amar Singh, a police official said.
The duo was arrested, the official said, adding that a case has been registered against them in this connection and further probe is underway.
