JAMMU: Horticulture Department Jammu organised five days tour programme for orchardists of Jammu district under scheme ATMA 2013-14.
The farmers from different blocks of the Jammu district are participating in the programme and will visit various departmental nurseries/orchards, SKUAST-J and the farmer’s orchards developed on scientific methods.
During the tour they will get an opportunity to interact with SKUAST-J scientists and innovative orchardists, who have brought changes in their living life style by earning handsome income after doing the successful cultivation. They will also get demonstrations on various horticultural operations like pruning/training, budding/grafting, top-working, canopy management, protected cultivation etc. through which production and productivity of the fruit crops can be enhanced.
The tour was flagged off by Kirtan Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu in the presence of V. R Verma Dy. Director Planning, Shafika Khalid, Asstt. Director, Anil Gorka and Sanjeev Kumar, District level Subject Matter Specialists.
