JAMMU: Police on Wednesday arrested five persons and recovered 80 kgs of banned forest produce from their possession.
According to a report, SI Madan Lal along with Nafri of Police Station Gandhi Nagar during Naka at Satwari intercepted a Swift Dezire Car (JK02BQ/E391).
During checking, 80 Kgs of Minor Forest product Dermia Indica (Jungli Lahsun) a banned forest product was recovered from the possession of driver namely Bawa Sam son of Buti Ram resident of Pandori, Bishnah, Jammu and his other four associates namely Pan Raj son of Nath Ram, Bhim Singh son of Shontey Lal, Beli Ram son of Bhim Sen and Sanum Tanzen son of Tsering Sonam all resident of Gandhari, Paddar Kishtwar. All the five persons were arrested on the spot, vehicle used was also seized along with banned material. A case vide FIR No. 197/2016 under section 3/13/16/39 Forest Act 1987 registered at Police Station Gondhi Nagar.
The arrest and recovery was made by Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under supervision of Sachin Gupta, DySP, SDPO City South and Shazaad Sdaria, SP City South.
