JAMMU: Subhash House topped the points tally amongst Seniors with 230 points while Bhagat House finished at the top in Junior category with 190 points in the 40th Annual Athletic Meet of Sainik School Nagrota which concluded on Monday at Maj Somnath Sharma PVC Stadium of the school.
The three day long annual feature of the school was declared open by the Principal, Col Kapil Dev Koushal.
Aspiring athletes from three houses namely Azad House, Bhagat House and Subhash House competed in junior as well as senior categories. The final day’s events included 4 x 100 m relay for Juniors, 4 x 100 m relay, long jump, 400 m low-hurdle race and 100 m run for Seniors. In junior category, Azad House, which followed closely at the second place, could not turn the tables in their favour despite some superlative efforts from the cadets of the house in the last event 4x100m relay race.
The closing ceremony was marked by a march past by the participating houses amidst resounding applause from spectators who had turned up to witness this mega event. The Principal gave away the medals and certificates to the winners of various track and field events. Cadet Sourav Kumar of Subhash House was declared Best Athlete amongst the Seniors while Cadet Adarsh Kumar of Bhagat House won the Best Athlete award in the junior category. Subhash House in senior category clinched the over-all championship trophy while Bhagat House stood first among juniors.
Addressing the cadets, the Principal lauded the performance of all athletes and emphasized the importance of developing true sportsman spirit and building up one’s will power and character.
