Islamabad : At least 400 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) protestors have been booked for staging anti-government rallies in Pakistan, media reported Sunday.

The PTI workers had staged a sit-in in Faisalabad city of Punjab province and blocked traffic for more than five hours, local media reported.

The protestors chanted slogans against the government and demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation over alleged rigging in last year’s general elections.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) members also demonstrated at the Press Club here against the PTI.

On Sunday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will organise a pro-government rally in Faisalabad.

Pakistan’s political stalemate continues as protest leaders, PTI chief Imran Khan and cleric Tahirul Qadri, have refused to give up until Sharif resigns.

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan told his supporters at the sit-in that Sharif enjoys a fake mandate.

The protests that began Aug 15 went on for the ninth day Sunday.
