Banihal: Four people were killed and three injured when an SUV carrying them skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Ramban district on Monday, official sources said.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the loss of lives in the tragic road accident and announced ex-gratia.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of precious lives in an unfortunate road accident in Ramban today. I convey my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of those injured,” the Lt Governor said.
He announced ex-gratia for the victims of Ramban road accident and those who had lost their lives in a tragic landslide in Reasi on Sunday. An ex-gratia of Rs.5 Lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs.50,000.
The car, which was on its way from Ukhrall to Maligam, skidded off due to slippery road conditions and fell into a gorge near Maligam, they said. The locals rushed to the spot and rescued the victims, the police said.
The SUV driver Sajjad Ahmad and three passengers — Abdul Wahid Bali, Aanayatullah , Mohammad Ayoub Bali lost their lives in the incident, they said.
The three persons injured in the accident were shifted to a hospital, they added.
