4 IPS Officers of J&K among 14 from AGMUT cadre promoted to IGP grade

JAMMU: Four IPS Officers of erstwhile J&K cadre, among fourteen IPS Officers of AGMUT cadre promoted to IGP grade.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced the promotion of Four IPS Officers of erstwhile J&K cadre among fourteen IPS Officers from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) Cadre 2007 batch to the IGP Grade (Level-14) in the Pay Matrix.
“In pursuance to the recommendations of the Screening Committee in its meeting held on December 19, 2024, the eleven IPS officers of AGMUT cadre 2007, currently posted in the cadre, are hereby promoted to the IGP Grade (Level-14 in the Pay Matrix) from January 1, 2025 or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later,” reads an order issued by Rakesh Kumar Singh, Under Secretary to Government of India, MHA.
The IPS officers promoted to the IGP Grade include Vijay Kumar, Sunil Gupta, Sujit Kumar, Vivek Gupta, Surender Kumar, Mohd. Suleman Choudhary, Nupur Prasad, Aslam Khan, Geeta Rani Verma, Deepak Purohit, and Tojo Karga.
“These officers are currently posted in various positions within the AGMUT Cadre. Their promotion to the IGP Grade is a recognition of their exceptional service and dedication.: read an order.
“Furthermore, the Ministry has granted Proforma Promotion to three IPS officers who are currently serving on Central Deputation. These officers, Meghna Yadav, Seju P Kuruvilla, and Romil Baaniya, will be granted the IGP Grade (Level-14) in the Pay Matrix, effective from January 1, 2025,” it added.
However, their actual promotion will take effect from the date their immediate junior in the cadre assumes charge.
The Ministry also made it clear that officers who have not yet completed the mandatory MCTP Phase IV training will only be confirmed in the IGP grade after completing the training at the next available opportunity.
The announcement was made under the approval of the Competent Authority.
