4 ½ years RI for wife’s murder

JAMMU: Principal Sessions Judge Bhadarwah M.K Sharma on Wednesday awarded four and half years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to Pardeep Kumar for murdering his wife.
According to the police case, Ram Parshad, father of the accused on 7th January 2013 informed the complainant Mool Raj, father of the deceased that the her daughter Poonam Devi has consumed some poisonous substance and asked him to reach Bhadarwah hospital.
On reaching Bhadarwah hospital, the complainant found his daughter Poonam Devi dead. He found some marks of violence on the neck and body of the deceased. On the strength of written report lodged by the complainant, a case vide FIR No. 03/2013 for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 498-A and 306 RPC was registered in Police Station Bhadarwah.
Justice Sharma after hearing both the sides observed that there is sufficient material on the file to presume that the accused caused death of the deceased by hitting her on the abdomen with the knowledge that his act is likely to cause death of the deceased. The accused is, therefore, proved to have committed offence punishable under section 304-II and awarded rigorous imprisonment for four and a half years for the commission of offence under Section 304-II RPC.
