3,940 employees trained for conducting 8- phase DDC elections in Kathua: DPEO

KATHUA: District Panchayat Election Officer, Kathua ( DC) Om Parkash Bhagat on Friday said that 3940 employees are being trained for the conduct of 8 phase District Development Council and Panchayat By Polls in the district.
Addressing a press conference regarding election arrangements, the DPEO informed that so far notifications of elections upto phase-VI have been issued, whereas the process of filing nominations has been completed for phase-I & phase-II for DDC and vacant seats of sarpanch and panch in the district.
The DPEO added that 111 polling stations for Phase-I and 115 polling stations for Phase II have been established for smooth conduct of election.
‘In Phase-1, A total of 46273 eligible voters comprising 24,906 Males and 21367 Females, while in phase II, 51998 voters including 27,966 Males and 24032 females in phase 2 will exercise their right to vote to elect their representatives for respective DDC seats and vacant seats of sarpanch and panch’, the DPEO informed.
The DPEO also informed that the District Election Cell has mobilized adequate men and machinery for smooth conduct of elections in the district. He said teams for training of polling staff, security, video surveillance, expenditure monitoring, media centre, transport, SVEEP, Law and order etc has been deputed to ensure free and fair elections.
He disclosed that 3940 employees are being trained for the conduct of 8 phases of elections in the district. He said a team of 257 teachers are assigned the job to sensitize people about safety measures to be adopted on polling day in view of Covid-19 pandemic. He also informed that Government Degree College Kathua has been selected as Strong Room for counting of votes for all 14 DDC constituencies of the district.
Among others DDEO Kathua Narayan Dutt( ACD), DIO Kathua Parshotam Dass were also present.
