36th Doda District Volleyball Championship begins

BHADERWAH: The 36th Doda District Volleyball Championship was inaugurated today at Government Degree College Bhaderwah by Add. SP Bhaderwah, Vinod Sharma.
The event, organized by the Volleyball Association of J&K in coordination with GDC Bhaderwah and under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, features 13 teams from various regions of Doda district, including Sinoo, Daddkai, Changa, Thathri, Chinta, and more, competing for the championship title.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Vinod Sharma, praised the efforts of the organizers for conducting such sports events across J&K UT. He emphasized the importance of channeling the energy of youth into constructive activities like sports, which also raise awareness against social evils, including drug addiction. He further appreciated the Volleyball Association of J&K for selecting Bhaderwah as the venue for this prestigious championship and expressed his support for organizing future events aimed at preparing players for J&K UT-level and National-level volleyball competitions.
Among the dignitaries present were Ravi Thakur (SDM, Retd.), who graced the event as the Guest of Honour, along with Sandeep Parihar (SHO Bhaderwah), Angrej Singh (Physical Director, GDC Bhaderwah), and others.
The dignitaries were honoured with mementos by the office bearers of the Volleyball Association of J&K, including Kuldip Magotra (CEO), Vijay Magotra (General Secretary), and Romesh Sharma (Treasurer).
The tournament kicked off with exciting matches, showcasing spirited competition.
Today’s Results: GDC Bhaderwah defeated Islamia Club by 2-0 (25-21, 25-10); Rewara Club defeated GDC Bhaderwah-B by 2-0 (25-16, 26-16); Seri Volleyball Club defeated Chinta Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-22, 25-11); Friends Volleyball Club defeated Bhadarkashi Tiger Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-20, 26-24); Sofi Volleyball Club Daddkai defeated Shining Volleyball Club Bharti by 2-0 (25-11, 25-22); Young Star Bhatyas Volleyball Club defeated Rewara Volleyball Club by 2-0 (25-15, 25-16); Tiger Sinoo Volleyball Club defeated GDC Bhaderwah-A by 2-0 (25-23, 26-24); Thathri Volleyball Club defeated Friends Volleyball Club Bhalessa by 2-0 (25-13, 25-10);
Tomorrow, the tournament will feature a quarter-final match, followed by two semi-final matches and the final match.
The competition is being officiated by Mudasir Butt, Aftab Ahmed, Salma Rubi, Rajni Kotwal, Gulshan Ahmed, Amir Iqbal, Mohd Arif (Rana), ensuring the smooth conduct of the championship. The event has seen a large turnout of sports enthusiasts and volleyball stalwarts, all eagerly supporting the tournament.
