368 pulse polio booths, six mobile teams set up

KISHTWAR: A meeting of District Task Force for Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme 2015 was held at the district headquarters under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Mohammad Javed Khan.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sham Prasad Gupta apprised the members about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan to be adopted during the first round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation programme scheduled from 18th to 20th January, so as to cover every single child under five years of age.
He informed the chairman that the estimated population of the children below five years in all the health blocks of Kishtwar comes to be 36,684 for which 368 vaccination booths have been established. A total number of 1,572 booth team members that include 695 Anganwari workers/ voluntary workers, 207 health workers, 322 teachers and 248 ASHA workers have been identified. For this 74 supervisors and six mobile teams with one supervisor will be pressed into service. A total number of 40,000 Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) doses would be required for the first round in all the health blocks of Kishtwar, Padder, Dachhan and Chatroo.
The chairman directed the Health Department to impart necessary training to the workers so that an effective campaign is ensured. He called upon the members to strictly ensure that each and every child under five years gets the polio drops and special emphasis be given to far flung rural areas.
The other members of the Task Force who were present in the meeting included Deputy CMO, Executive Engineer PDD, BMO Kishtwar, BMO Padder, BMO Chatroo, and BMO Dachhan besides representatives of various Govt. departments.
