JAMMU: Kupwara District Volleyball Association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of J&K and in collaboration with J&K Sports Council set for hosting three -day 35th J&K UT Senior Men Volleyball Championship at Maidan Chogul, Handwara, here from September 28 to 30, 2023.
The championship would be an eye opener for volleyball lovers of the Union Territory of J&K to witness latest techniques/ talents of volleyball players who excelled well in the last year held 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship in boys section by securing 3rd position at All India Level Competition for the first time.
During the championship various aspects of Khelo India, My Youth-My Pride, Drug-de-Addiction etc. would be focused among the youth.
According to Shabir Khan, Organizing Secretary of the championship and District secretary of Kupwara volleyball association, 21 teams senior men have reported so far who have come from 20 districts of J&K UT and one team from J&K Police (centre team volleyball of JKP).
He further disclosed that free boarding / lodging facilities for all participating teams have been provided.
Four volleyball playing fields were prepared out of which two playing fields having flood lights. he said adding that the matches will be played on league cum knockout basis.
The daily 25-30 matches will be played upto late night for which flood-light arrangements have been made, he said adding that the total of 52 matches will be played within 3-day Championship.
The site of the championship has been braced up with buntings and hoardings.
