3 PG courses of Govt Dental College recognised by Union Ministry of Health

SRINAGAR: According to the Dean, Government Dental College/Hospital, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Dental Education Section) has recognised Master of Dental Surgery in the specialities of Prosthodontics and Crown Bridge, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, and Oral Medicine and Radiology with intake capacity of two seats for each speciality.
Thus the total intake capacity of recognized MDS Degree has enhanced from six to twelve.
He said the recognition of BDS/MDS degree by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Dental Council of India would facilitate the aspirants to get jobs according to their choice anywhere in the country and abroad.
The Dean said apart from this, approval was also granted by Dental Council of India for starting of Diploma Course in Dental Hygienist with an intake capacity of five admissions annually.
He said efforts are being made to pursue the authorities in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Dental Council of India to have frequent inspections of the quality of dental education in order to get the intake capacity of BDS/MDS courses enhanced in future as well.
