2nd National Business Plan Competition 2016 begins

JAMMU: The two-day 2nd National Business Plan Competition under theme ‘Think Big-2016’ organized by International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR and HRM), University of Jammu in association with Jammu Chapter National HRD Network commenced at University of Jammu with an impressive Opening Ceremony.
The competition has been organized with an objective to provide a platform to the young minds to showcase their innovative, financially viable and socially responsible ideas for business. Through this competition, it is endeavoured to stimulate and motivate entrepreneurially driven students to engage in materializing their ideas into successful business ventures.
Dr M.I Parray, Director JKEDI, J&K State, was the Chief Guest during the Inaugural Ceremony while Professor Ravikesh Srivastava, Dean Academics, IMT Ghaziabad delivered the inaugural talk, while Professor Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, presided over the Inaugural Ceremony.
Dr Parray deliberated upon the fact that it is important for individuals to recognize the real inner self to demonstrate the latent potential that can be usefully moulded to reap desired outcomes.
He highlighted that one must have a sense of contribution towards the society and expressed that the spirit of entrepreneurship can be developed through vision, concerted efforts, direction and leadership.
Professor Ravikesh Srivastava, Dean Academics, IMT Ghaziabad during his inaugural talk, discussed the relevance of entrepreneurial mindsets and the need to think differently to match the dynamics of the present day business world. He focussed upon the three words that define a good entrepreneur: Profit, Perseverance and Positivity. He encouraged the young minds to work upon their innovative ideas and take them forward.
Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, encouraged the students to move ahead and think beyond being a job-seeker and opt to be a job-provider.
Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar and Dean Business Studies, University of Jammu, applauded the International Centre for the tremendous efforts that have gone into organising of this national level event.
Annil Suri, Vice President, Jammu Chapter, National HRD Network, stressed upon the importance of valuing the dreams and believing in self and not to fall for the myths created about entrepreneurship.
The competition spans across post-graduate and graduate level, wherein, select 24 proposals have been shortlisted for the final competition. Over 200 students participated today.
The business proposals were desired to be developed along functional areas of management besides operational and production aspects. Some of the Institutions which represented today were Central University, Himachal Pradesh, Central University of Jammu (MBA- Supply Chain Management), SMVDU, Katra, The Management School, Kathua Campus, JU, MIET, Jammu, School of Biotechnology, JU, ICccR and HRM, JU, Central University of Jammu (B.Voc.-Travel and Tourism Management), SHTM, JU, Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu etc.
The competition was adjudged by panel of judges and comprised of Annil Suri, Vice President, Jammu Chapter, National HRD Network, Imran Ahmed, Circle Head, J and K Ericsson, Professor Ravikesh Srivastava, Dean Academics, IMT Ghaziabad and Saheel Yaqoob Alaqband, Assistant Director (Metallurgy), MSME, J and K State.
Towards the closing of the technical session for today, a ‘Cultural Bonanza’ was also presented. Anjali Sharma, Director, Doordarshan J&K, was the special guest during the Cultural Programme. Professor Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu and Professor Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu graced the cultural programme.
The evening was an impressive show of talent and showcased performances of singer Vibha Bharti of the fame of ‘Awaaz Punjab Di’, ‘The Strings’ Band led by Naresh Sharma, performance by Narender Wazir and dance performances by the students of MBA (International Business) Programme.
