JAMMU: Niteshi Saini defeated Rashmi Kashyap in straight sets of 21-07, 21-10 to clinch women’s singles title in the ongoing second Martyrs Memorial Badminton Tournament, organised by Kings Badminton Club at Indoor Hall of J&K Police, here on Monday.
In the men’s singles event, Vipul Saini and Raghav Dogra have made it to the final. Earlier, in the semifinals, decided today, Vipul trounced Aesh Goswami 21-15, 21-13 and Raghav outplayed Sunil Bakshi 21-13, 25-23. Quarterfinals: Raghav Dogra beat Nakul Vaid 21-16, 21-10; Sunil Bakshi defeated Mohit Choudhari 19-21, 21-19, 21-19; Aesh Goswami blanked Adash 21-10, 21-12.
Similarly, in under-17 boys’ singles event, Aesh Goswami shall take on Sehdev in the final. In the semifinals, played today, Aesh beat Rohit 21-08, 21-05 while Sehdev trounced Dheeraj 21-14, 21-09.
In girls’ under-17 category, Rashmi Kashyap has been pitted against Snowy. Earlier, in the semifinals, Rashmi defeated Stuti of Udhampur 21-08, 17-21, 21-16 and Sonwy beat Pranjal 21-04, 21-09.
The finals of almost all the age groups have been scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue.
