2nd Federation Pencak Silat Cup 2017: J&K team wins overall runners up trophy

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Pencak Silat team won overall second runners up trophy in the Second Federation Cup 2017, organised by Maharashtra Pencak Silat Association under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The State Junior and Senior male and females’ teams won 21 medals including four gold, five silver and 12 bronze.
Sehrish Zahoor and Sheikh Mueen from the State got selected for the National Coaching Camp for the onward participation of Indian team in the 18th Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta. Six players namely Zakariya Bhat, Tawzeeh Mujeeb, Ubaid Lateef, Tawqeer ul Nisa, Eliya Mansoor and Sheikh Najmus Saqib got selected for the Junior World Pencak Silat Championship 2018 which will be held from April 20 to 29 2018 at Thailand.
The President and General Secretary of the Indian Pencak Silat Federation congratulated the State team for their outstanding performance and wished the selected players for World Pencak Silat Championship and Asian Games 2018.
Rayees Ahmad was accompanied as a Coach and Suheel Ahmad was the Manager for the boys team while Seerat Qayoom was the Incharge for the State female team.
The State teams participated under the patronage of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
