2nd Dr Ritu Gupta lecture held at ASCOMS

JAMMU: Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation in collaboration with Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital organized second Dr. Ritu Gupta Lecture which was attended by a large number of faculty, staff and students from various Medical and Dental Colleges of Jammu province.”as per a prelease issued.
The function was inaugurated by Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal/Dean, Govt. Medical College Jammu. Ms. Babila Rakwal Mission Director, National Health Mission, Jammu and Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Director Health Services, were guests of honour.
While delivering the welcome address, Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal ASCOMS highlighted the importance of academic activities in medical curriculum and also spoke on the organizational capabilities of Dr. Ritu Gupta and her love for academic activities. He described Dr. Ritu Gupta as epitome of humbleness and passionate towards Medical Teaching. The Guest Speakers on the occasion were Dr. Amarjeet Singh Bhatia, Principal, Govt. Medical College, Rajouri and Dr. Avneet Sharma, Senior consultant, Psychiatry, National Health Service, United Kingdom.
The Guest Speaker Dr. Bhatia while speaking on stress and power of positive attitude described the coordination between the two important factor i.e., stress and positive attitude. He advised the student to become positive thinker as lots of many stresses during the studies life would vanish once a student thinks positively. He also advised the student towards, use of cognitive and behavioral strategies to manage the demand of stress situation. Dr. Avneet Sharma gave a detailed overview of stresses and compared the two different situations in India and United Kingdom. While addressing the students he advised them to remain away from stressful conditions and also advised the students to keep evaluating their behavior and practice empathy.
Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta, Prof & HOD Paediatrics & Chairman, Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation while speaking on the occasion explained about various activities to be initiated by the foundation for the benefit of common masses. A small presentation about the life of Dr. Ritu Gupta was presented by Urvi Gupta, Dr. Ritu Gupta’s daughter.
On the occasion, toppers in the subject of Physiology in the different Medical colleges of Jammu province were felicitated namely Anadya Handa (GMC Rajouri), Humna Javed (GDC Jammu), Arnav Vivek Gupta (GMC Jammu), Meemansa (GMC Doda), Samarpreet Singh (IDS Sehora), Peerzada Shamas-ul-Wara (ASCOMS Jammu), Deepika Rehan (GMC Kathua), along with the HODs namely Dr. Vineeta Sharma, HOD Physiology (GMC Jammu), Dr. Neeru Gupta, HOD Physiology (IDS Sehora), Dr. Garima Charak, HOD Physiology (GMC Doda), Dr. Sabita Yograj, HOD Physiology (GMC Kathua), Dr. Ravinder Kumar Malhotra, HOD Physiology (GMC Rajouri).
Also on the occasion the Foundation felicitated the Principals of various Medical and Dental Colleges of Jammu province. Speaking on the occasion, Babila Rakwal, Guest of Honor highlighted the importance of stress management in the student community. She also laid stress on the role of parents and councilors on managing stress in young children.
Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ritu Gupta, foundation and ASCOMS.
He described that such type of academic activities are important for academic development of student and to keep the name alive in academic circle for which Dr. Ritu Gupta, was known for her academic bent of mind. He complimented both the speakers for their wonderful presentation and suggested that more such events where different Medical and Dental Colleges can participate should be organized. Suresh Jandial, former Executive Director (ONGC) highlighted the importance of organ donation as the same has been done by Dr. Ritu Gupta and he presented the vote of thanks in the end.
