28th Road Safety Week gets underway across region

RAJOURI: Continuing its awareness drive under 28th Road Safety Week, Motor Vehicles Department in Rajouri held an awareness camp for all those people who have applied to get driving licenses from the department.
This awareness camp was held in Yatra ground Rajouri in which Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat was Chief Guest while Assistant Regional Transport Officer Rajouri, Jugal Sharma was supervising the programme whereas DySP Traffic Madan Lal Sharma, MVD Inspector Ranjeev Bhasin among other officials were also present on this occasion.
More than four hundred and fifty people from different walks of the society and different age groups were present in this camp.
All these people have recently applied for obtaining a driving license from the Motor Vehicles Department and will be called for driving test in upcoming days.
While addressing the gathering, ARTO Rajouri Jugal Sharma said aim of holding such a camp under Road Safety Week was to made aware all the new drivers about the traffic rules and regulations.
Chief Guest of the programme Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat asked Motor Vehicles Department to further tighten it’s noose on violation of norms and to ensure that violation of norms, especially driving by minors, is dealt strictly under law.
Later on Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat on the part of Motor Vehicles Department also distributed two wheeler helmets among several new female drivers and asked them to wear it always during driving.
KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar inaugurated two day exhibition on the theme ‘Your Safety, Secures Your Family-Be Cautious On Road’ organised by Regional Transport Office ,Kathua in collaboration with Private school association at Mukherjee Chowk Kathua.
The students of Learning Temple High School through various models displayed road safety rules and regulations, traffic signs and symbols, precautions to be taken on railway crossings, importance of wearing helmet and seat belt while driving two wheelers and four wheelers respectively. Nukkad Natak was also presented on the theme by the artist of Sargam Group.
RTO Kathua Amarjeet Singh in his address apprised general public about the road safety rules and the Guidelines issued by Supreme Court on ‘Good Samaritans’.
Later, students of colleges comprising of NCC and NSS cadets along with the team of Motor Vehicle Department and Traffic Police sensitised people about road safety measures.
President Private Schools Association Sat Paul, President DGPC Charanjeet Singh Bhola, NCC/NSS volunteers from college and people from all walks of life witnessed the Nukkad Natak and Exhibition.
BHADARWAH: In continuation to the celebration of 28th Road Safety Week 2017′, Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Doda in collaboration with Health Department organised a free medical camp on the theme ‘Your Safety Secures Your Family; Be Cautious on Roads’ at Bhadarwah .
SDM Bhadarwah Mohd Anwar Banday in presence of ARTO Bhadarwah Zubair Ahmed inaugurated the camp which was organised at New Bus Stand Kotli, Bhadarwah.
The medical team from SDH Bhadarwah comprising Dr Mudassar Arif Medical Officer, Dr Azra Bali Medical Officer and para-medical staff was deputed to examine the people especially drivers community.
Doctors and para-medical staff from SDH Bhadarwah, officials of MVD Doda besides large number of driver community attended the camp.
UDHAMPUR: Motor Vehicle Department Udhampur in collaboration with Health Department, Udhampur organised a free medical camp for the drivers and commuters at Mini Stadium Udhampur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Angrez Singh Rana who was Chief Guest on the occasion exhorted upon the participants to follow the traffic rules to avoid accidents.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Chander Prakash and ARTO Udhampur, Rajesh Gupta also highlighted the various road safety measures. Among others, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Sanjeev Kumar, President Matador Union, Udhampur Darshan Kumar and prominent citizens besides large number of drivers and people attended the medical camp.
SAMBA: The Motor Vehicle Department Samba today organised a symposium on Road Safety in collaboration with district administration, education department and Youth for Society, a social organisation.
Additional Development Commissioner, Vivek Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The programme saw participation of students from government schools of all four zones Samba, Ramgarh, Vijaypur and Purmandal besides students from number of private schools and degree college. The students namely Kriti Lakhotra, Kanika Sharma, Taruna Thappa were the first prize winners while Karan Mangotra, Tanya Sharma, Shivali Rajput and Minakshi Sharma bagged second prize and third prize was clinched by Kanika Sharma, Munish Shehri, Simran Chowhan, Priyanka Bhagat, Shweta Sharma, Swati Sambyal and Alka Sharma in their respective categories.
Consolation prizes were also announced for Shilpa Sharma, Simran Mehra, Karan Sharma and Simran Sharma.
ARTO Er. Kuldeep Singh informed about the activities being done by Motor Vehicles Department in connection with 28th Road Safety Week. He said that the main objective of the campaign is to create and spread awareness about the importance of road safety as the frequency of road accidents is increasing at an alarming rate due to rapid increase in number of vehicles and careless driving.
RAMBAN: As a part of ongoing Road Safety Week, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) today organised an awareness programme at bus stand Ramban to sensitize the youth, drivers and local population about the road safety norms and rules.
On the occasion, the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Ramban, Mushtaq Choudhary, ARTO Ramban Shammi Kumar ,Tehsildar ,Ramban, Gurpreet Singh Dy.SP Traffic, Kameshwar Puri educated the drivers, commuters and the passing -by people on the Traffic Rules.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq expressed concern over frequent fatal road accidents in the district and advised the drivers and public to adopt safety measures while driving and crossing roads. Kameshwar Puri highlighted the role and responsibilities of people in effective implementation of traffic rules for larger interest of the society.
POONCH: During the ongoing 28th Road Safety Week the ARTO Poonch Jehangir Ahmed organised an awareness camp at Mendhar which was inaugurated by SDM Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh.
In this camp drivers, conductors and other persons connected with transport industry participated. A medical check up of all the drivers was conducted and free medicines were issued for different types of ailments.
While addressing the transporters ARTO said that driver of a vehicle is very important and responsible person and he has therefore to be very careful and cautious. His slightest negligence can cost life of all the passengers sitting in the vehicle. The ARTO enumerated the Do’s and Don’ts for the drivers which include possession of all documents including driving licence, RC, route permit etc, avoiding overloading, no use of mobile phone, intoxication and over speeding etc.
Prominent among others present include Tehsildar Shehzad Latief Khan, SDPO Choudhary Shahid Naeem, SHO Daleep Singh Billoria, Bus Service Manager Bharatg Bhushan and Tata Sumo Union President Kafeel Khan.
